Our History

Our founder spent several years teaching in the New York City inner-city schools and four years teaching overseas in third world and developing countries. This experience afforded a rare opportunity to view the world from the eyes of students around the globe. It became quickly apparent that a new model of education was needed, both in the global community as well as in the United States. Thus the dream of Africa Teach was born!

After ten years of planning, going back to school to complete graduate degrees in education and nonprofit management, and a lot of networking, the wheels were placed in motion to build schools in Africa. Loosely based on Harvard University's WorldTeach program, where our founder worked, the idea for Africa Teach was developed and refined during that ten year planning period. The rest, as they say, is history.
